Who we are

AdRESS is an advocacy and advice service for parents and carers of children and young people experiencing racism in Scottish schools.

AdRESS was created by the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER), an anti-racism charity that has been campaigning for racial justice in Scotland for over two decades.

While CRER primarily focuses on research, strategic policy work and campaigning, we regularly hear from parents and carers whose children have faced serious harassment and physical violence at the hands of their classmates.

In many cases, parents reporting incidents are dismissed, belittled and even bullied when trying to seek help for their children.

AdRESS helps to ensure that your voice is heard

Who co-ordinates AdRESS?

Our services are delivered by specially trained staff from the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER), who can use their lived experience of racism and advocacy to ensure that you get the support you need.

AdRESS is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

About CRER

The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) is a Scottish anti-racism charity that has been campaigning for racial justice in Scotland for 25 years.

Our mission is to protect, enhance and promote the rights of Black and minority ethnic communities across all areas of life and to strengthen the social, economic and political capital of Black and minority ethnic communities, especially those at greatest risk of disadvantage.

To achieve this, we undertake research, policy development, lobbying, campaigning and more across all areas where racial injustices persist. We work in partnership with activists, grassroots and third sector organisations, academia, Scottish Government and other public sector organisations to create change.

You can learn more about CRER’s work in Scotland on the CRER website.
