Tackling Online Hate
With the next generation growing into an increasingly connected world, it’s important to safeguard children and adolescents against the more harmful aspects of online lifestyles.
Unfortunately, online hate and other harmful content are becoming increasingly prevalent and easier to see on mainstream social media platforms. It’s now estimated that two in five children in the UK have experienced online abuse.
To help people identify online hate speech and hate crimes, the Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) has published a new and updated guide on ‘Tackling Online Hate’.
This guide includes the latest information on how to identify, report and tackle online hate across all major social media platforms and what your legal protections are under Scotland’s new Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021.
